I would see if they are the older double sided IC's or the newer single sided IC's. The older versions OC much better. Not that the newer ones are bad, per se, just that there are probably better sticks for that price.

Also, I would make sure it is brand new and in an unopened container. My guess is the seller is buying bthe sticks, mailing in the $25 rebats, then selling them for $59 (making $20 per set) Not that this is wrong, just that I would rather save the money and get the rebate myself. (and be sure I am actually getting a brand new pair)

I think it depends on the version of ballistix. I would say the older version, yes, but the newer ones do not seem to OC as well as the older ones. I have a set of each, but i haven't gotten my main rig up and running with the new mobo yet, so I haven't had a chance to compare them side by side.

Ask the seller if the RAM has chips on one side or on both sides. the RAM with IC's on both sides is the older version.

The newer stuff insn't horrible, it just doesn't seem to OC as well as the older versions. This, IMO, would make it very close to the RAM you already have.

Its up to you. If you want to spend money on RAM, I would look at a 2x2gb kit. They usually don't overclock as well, but you have the option to get even more down the road. I have had a 2x1gb kit (old style ballistix) that I have had for a while. I am installing the XP x64 trial on my new rig (to hold me until I can get Vista) so I opted to buy 2 more 1gb stick to use 4gb. I will probably get a 2x2gb set soon and I have another PC that can use one set and my family always has a PC that needs RAM, so it was worth it.

So, you may want to consider getting another 2gb of RAM to run 4gb, but considering that a gooD set of gskill 2x2gb is only $89.99, I would look into that.

Allow me to direct you toward:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820313005

Which is guaranteed to be amazing in everyway. These modules used to go for $300+ and they are for sure made with Micron D9 IC's.

I picked up 4 stick earlier this week and they should be here tomorrow for sure.
