Need a little help on my new build

Thread Starter
Hello everyone. I hope some one has an idea what might be going on with my new system. The details of the system are below here is what is going on. Everything was find OS loaded and system running. I had been changing some bios settings to test performance. My memory had not been reporting correctly through CPU-Z so I had pulled 2 sticks and booted everything was ok but still not reporting correctly so I put the memory back. When I booted the power came on for about 5 seconds the cpu fan spuns up then the system powers off then it powers on for 5 and powers off. No beeps codes either. I did the "normal" isolation removed all connected devices and the same issue. However when I pull the 12v connection the system will appear to power on but of course with out the 12v it will not run. I thought then that this was a power supply issue so I slapped a new one in. Same problem. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
STeve

Try resetting the CMOS for about 10 seconds

You could check if the power button is stuck/faulty.
Just bridge the PW_SW pins with something metal (e.g. screwdriver)

Another thing to try is to pull the plug from the back of the computer and hold down the power button for about 5 seconds, then plug back in and boot... That trick has saved me more times than i could count...

Yeah sometimes i get that too, when i overclock my cpu jsuta tad too much, and dont get any screen response. Unplu psu for a min, plug it bcak in, turn it on, miy pc automatically boots. Soft reset turn it off, wait, turn it on, and waita few mins for it to load.

Assuming u reset your bios by removing the battery on your motherboard first.

There should be a jumper that works much faster. Also try running with one stick of ram at a time.

Well thanks everyone for the help but no joy. I left the battery out and the cpu_clr jumper jumped for more than 17 hours and still the same symptoms. If there are any more ideas I would love to try them out but I think and hope the main board or bios is gone on the current board.
Thanks more to come.

Have you tried removing the PW_Switch jumpers and starting the PC by shorting the pins briefly. The case power switch may be acting up.
