Personally idd wait a month and get a Q9450 u couldget that to 4ghz on air!! also get a X48 mobo if u can afford it XD DDR3 is also an option if u got the cash as it works very nicely with the X38/48 chipsets.

Abit IP-35E or Gigabyte P35DS3L, although if it's going to be used for office work you could go with a nice mATX board like mine or the Gigabyte GA-G33.

hmm...the DS3R and foxconn mars don't seem to be available on the egg...in fact I can't seem to find a reliable vendor for them at all. anyone got any suggestions on that front?

The abit IP35 looks great though, i read both the x-bit and anandtech reviews. it's within budget, but probably at the upper end.
