Not necessarily. For some reason I can no longer access the overclocking options in my bios, forcing me to use the windows "uguru" utility. It seems to work fine, I haven't had any problems with it. Now I know that you shouldn't overclcok in windows and it's best to use the bios, but overclocking in windows isn't really that bad of a thing.

the OP had me hysterical laughing here, registry 'hacks'?

Making your start button a different color and telling hardware to act differently are two completely different thinks. unless you're hitting it, tell her to go work at best buy

Sure it is. Why can't you access your BIOS? What has changed since you could access your BIOS?

LOL.

A registry hack only changes a window setting. It does not OC.

yeah, because sometimes overclocking in your BIOS causes the NB timings to loosen and give you less performance. Overclocking through windows will keep the NB timings tight and give you greater performance. All this stuff was in a thread somewhere...

I honestly haven't a clue, just one day I turned the computer on and my cmos was cleared somehow. So I went into the bios to overclock and the option is disabled. To change any clock speeds I have to go into the "uguru utility" option, but it's grayed out! Even after clearing the cmos and stuff I still cant get to it. Very frustrating.

I'm not promoting overclocking in windows or anything (I do prefer the bios) but I'm just saying that it's possible to successfully do it.

..sorry, a little off topic

Back when Windows 98 was 'new', I would change the color of my start bar, and change start to 'stop'.

I was such a little *haxor! lawl

* is sarcastic.
