Got to love that search feature. Really, to be the second one to post something is fine. I just don't like to see a ton of repeat threads the same day.

I don't want to scare people off from posting in fear of another post similar to this that the search function just didn't pick up. I also can't check the news every day so somethings 2 week old repost are news to me.

4870 with 480 SP vs 3870 320 i dont see that being 2 times better. even if it is as of now we know he 9800GTX will be more then 2 times faster then 8800 Ultra which i by far still the best singe card and much better then the 3870. Do you guys thing ATI will lose again.

This jumping 2-3-4 series crap is getting old. I want a new series to be better. ATI is ruining everything. They keep making series like new cards. Who else is left to upgrade by the time this comes out no one will buy them.

wat?! Where does it state that the 9800GTX will beat the 8800 Ultra by double?

http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/articl...50aHVzaWFzdA==

here it says 9800 GTX2 will beat the 8800 Ultra by 30%...

well as mentioned b4, bigger numbers sound better. it's a marketing technique

Probably why nvidia is winning
2TFLOPs vs 1 TFLOP doesn't mean that the games will be better on 2 TFLOPs.
The example is Radeon 3870X2(1TFLOP) vs GeForce 8800GT/Ultra(About 500 GFLOPs).
Depends on the drivers, depends on the game...

You know that the bigger the number ,the bigger the performance. But what number? Shader processors, yes. But also the clock. And you don't know if there are fixes in the old r600 architecture to make it better in r700.

There isn't much choice anymore these days. There are only ever like 3 enthusiast/high-end cards to choose from in each series now.

Dude, you keep spouting this ignorance everywhere I see ya. (no offence) but I hate repeating myself.
Sigh... Here goes again:

Less shader processors = less money to make = cheaper card money wise. But if you can optimize your bus, architecture and memory bandwidth to push as much as you can out it's rear end, then you can equal the performace of a higher card for less money, AND less power usuage. In the video card world, memory bandwidth is everything. This link may give you some idea:

Source

Hope you spot the trend....

If your younger and don't get it, I'll give ya an analogy:
A Car with 8 cylinders and a Car with only 6 decide to race. Which do you think would win?

The one with the most horsepower and torque wins. Cylinders doesn't mean anything. Memory bandwidth is exactly that. Horsepower and torque. It's not something the videocard industry likes to talk about because for one, it's a weakness. People focus on 'oh the GPU is clocked at 3Ghz!! I'm gonna buy that FTW!' It's a selling point. Most (and obviously some here) have no clue what memory bandwidth is, or what it's used for... so why bother advertising it? Even my grandma knows how fast her CPU is though... THATS what their gonna focus on.
And thats exactly what the industry wants. Which is the stupidest thing someone could do. (without obviously checking the "horsepower" first)

Ignorance is bliss..
