Help with Q6700 FSB

Thread Starter
I just have a thought. I'm currently run my Q6700 @ stock setting 2.66Ghz, x10 multiplier, 1066FSB, Bus speed is 266.7Mhz, and vcore @ 1.2v. I want to know if I change my Bus speed to 400MHz and lower the multiplier to x8. It will be 3.2GHz right? What about the FSB? Will it be 1600? My mobo only support FSB up to 1333, so It will not work right?

My rams are DDR2 800. The only setting I can use to make the FSBRAM 1:1 is Bus speed 333MHz@ x8, x9 or x10 multiplier which will be 2.664Ghz, 2.997GHz, and 3.33GHz and underclock ram to 333mhz (667), am I currect? What voltage should I use?

I'm still a newbie learning about overclocking, so please help me out. If I get any wrong, please correct me.

Thanks in advance.

your mobo is HORRIBLE for quads so i think you are gonna have to use the 10x multi to get anything about 2.8-2.9

Well, try this: set multiplier to 9, then set FSB to 400...set ram to 1:1, which will get it running at 800...if you're feeling adventurous, and want to OC your ram, try 450 FSB and 1:1 ram...both should give you 3.6GHz, a common/popular OC for quads.

Increase the northbridge/mch voltage by .1 at first, if that isn't enough increase to .2. Increase the vcore as needed (try 1.5 for starters, move down until it's stable. Try using Prime95 or Orthos to check for the stability, they're available for DL on the forum).

Good luck! Post results!
