Don't get a TT blue orb

Thread Starter
This is my 3rd reseat of the cpu and the temps are still unsustainable at a low voltage. I am using a QX6700 B3 with the Thermaltake Blue Orb II. My settings are 1.3625 VCore, 270*10 (only a touch over stock!). And here is the screenshot of the CPU IDLING. I am too scared to even run prime95 as the temps climb over 80 quite quickly. Just thought i would post this bit of advice before i got rid of it, to warn those thinking of going with this HSF...

Any suggestions of other HSF's (general opinion) would also be appreciated!

EDIT: Sorry about the image size

Something has really got to be wrong with that mount.. I got to 60c after 30 mins of orthos at my sig settings using dynex thermal paste with idle in the 30's :/ If you look at the thermal paste after removing the heatsink, is the chip and orb making good contact?

It seems to be. And i have tried AS5, regular thermal paste, the stuff that came with the TT blue orb... none of them make any marked difference.

The QX6700 is a much hotter chip than the Q6600 130w tdp vs.105/95w of the Q6600.

I have a QX6700 and the most vcore that I can run is 1.30v on air, this is with a lapped TRUE and IHS. Temps are in the low 60's.

You need to drop that vcore now, if you want a better oc then get a TRUE or go LC.

BTW I'm running 340x10 with 1.3v right now.
