PCI Card Trouble (NEWBIE)

Thread Starter
So I thought this would be simple enough. I have a 680i motherboard and I bought this pci capture card.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16815153002

I have been trying to plug it into my available pci slot and it wont fit in. I am pushing pretty hard and nothing is working. I'm such a newb here what am I doing wrong?

Ok, i'll act like you're a total newb, if that's ok. Are you putting it in a white slot? Or a blue/black slot? If this insults your intelligence just yell at me

well I am not a total newb but I feel like it with this problem. Yes, a white slot. Same as my sound card. The pins on my capture card are different from my sound card though. It still fits in the white slot.

Ok, well i always have trouble with the card lining up properly at the back, so check to make sure the back plate of your card is lined up properly. Otherwise, just apply firm, even pressure and it should socket. Sometimes it takes an uncomfortable amount of force, but just be careful and you should be fine.

Ok thank you. I knew this is what I needed to do but the assurance is good. I guess I will power down and try again.

Rep +1 for the quick reply and help for even a newb like me.

Oh yeah, no troubles. I read in the little manual that came with my ballistix "It can take 20 to 30 pounds of pressure to install a module" So you can apply a fair amount of force.
