Woah...

You guys are amazing! I posted that just before I went to sleep and I wake up to all these awesome replies!

No, I'm not really insistent on overclocking...its just nice to know if you can. And if its simple, then why not right?

I'm no gamer...I'm a photographer that does a lot of Photoshop and I've been pretty satisfied on my 5-year old Dell Dimension P4 2.8ghz up to this point, so I'm sure this system (hasn't shipped yet) will be more than sufficient for me.

But it sounds like there isn't any no-brainer way to overclock this guy, but thats no problem. I'll just stick around keep learning from reading all your posts in this forum. Thanks for all the help and info!!!

P.S. The machine info was:

Dell Vostro 400
Core 2 Duo 2.66ghz E6750
3gb DDR2 SDRAM 800mhz
128mb nVidia GeForce 8300GS
16x DVD +/- RW
48x CD-RW / DVD combo
WinXP
22" E228WFP Widescreen LCD
And the rest of the usual accesories

$765 after tax and shipping.

Well your new system is great for what you want at stock to be very honest with you.

There is actually not much point in overclocking it for what you do. Infact you only increase the risk of things going wrong at the end of the day.

I say keep it as it is. When and if you do ever move to gaming then its Custom built all the way.

That is what I was thinking. I have a Vostro 1400 Laptop.
I didn't realize that they kept the name for Desktops as well....that is too confusing. Just call them Dimensions or something.

Um...this is too weird. We both work IT at Big Ten Universities, and both have Vostro 1400s.

Weeeird.

Edit: And its the 8400GS one too!

Yea, I think we got the exact same configuration! Wireless N?

Are you sure you aren't just making things up at this point? LOL

hey doydoy, when i saw your post, i was going to say that you could just bsel mod it twice... once for the 800-1066mhz fsb then another from 1066-1333 mhz. thats what i did with my e4400. which is now oc'd at 3.33ghz. but then i realized that you have e6750. which is already at 1333mhz. not too sure how you would get the multipliers to change on a dell. i'm stumped there to be honest

edit: oh yes, i also bsel modded the vcore to 1.55 which is actually stable for more than 24hrs. i tried other volts but wouldn't get me anywhere.. -__- or just didn't load.
