So I got my Mushkin XP2-8500 to replace my current HP's. My current settings on ram are 1:1 4-5-4-11 2T (manually set) but my new ram recommends 5-5-4-12...should I reset everything in my bios to default and start over or just assume thats a good place to start? Or leave it as is and then tweak it?

Just go into the bios and change the settings.

It will boot right up.

BTW...that is some pretty good ram you got there. I almost grabbed some but decided to go with Team Xtreem instead.

I'm about to kill something! Not really but its been one of those days...I'm on hold on my phone beside me (2 hours and counting) with stupid startlogic...I want out. But anyways, now I decide to put in my new ram while I'm waiting, and my computer won't boot past defaults! I'm so confused...

This is what its doing now...

I can't understand. I tied putting it/keeping it at 400x8 (3.2Ghz) and leaving ram on auto. Have power boosted to cpu 1.35 ddr2 +3v FSB +1v (G)MCH +1v...the ram is defaulting to 1066 stepping, not sure why the rated FSB jumps to 1333 as seen above. The timings I should be setting (which I tried to no avail) on the ram are 5-5-4-12. They are running at 5:8 5-7-7-24 2T. And thats required for me to even get it to boot!

Another interesting fact is the ram I purchased is labeled mushkin XP2-8500 and my bios says its default is 1066 but CPU-Z is showing it as PC2-6400 (400) ram?!?!?
