Which would be faster

Thread Starter
7800 GTX OC in SLI (8x mode) or one 9600 GT. I'm asking as i might sell my 7800's and get a 9600. I've heard good reviews about the 9600 and just thought i'd see how it compares, btw what PSU would a 9600 GT need?

The 9600 will be far and away better than the 7800's.

As for the PSU, it would depend on what else is in the system. Do you have something in mind or a current build?

Please fill in your system specs in the 'User CP' tab. Btw, welcome to Overclock.net!

You don't have to wait - the 9600GT is in stock at the Egg.

PNY 9600GT 512MB
EVGA 9600GT 512MB
Gigabyte 9600GT 512MB

All three are $179.99 at the moment. The EVGA card is superclocked!

As for 7800GTX SLI vs. 9600GT - I'd be willing to bet the single 9600GT would win. But I don't know that for certain. I haven't seen any tests yet comparing the two.

9600gt is already out man lol. That old 4000 will seriously bottleneck you though, might wants to look into a new cpu.
