9800GTX to be G92, 256bit, at end of march?!?!

I'm not posting this in the news section as it seems a little sketchy. I just don't want to believe that they would do this, and what about the G100? It would be nice to see a high end G92 based card, but seriously whats the difference between it and an 8800GTS? 128 SPs on 256bit...
I honestly don't see why nVidia scraped the 900 lines, since that is what this would likely be, an 8900GTS, or at least a 9800GT.

I wouldn't believe it, very smart of you for not posting it in the news section.

128 shaders is identical to the 8800GTS 512, and just has a slightly higher core clock. So if this were true, the 9800GTX would be at or around the 8800 Ultra's performance.

I think it's hard to believe as well but this does go along w/ what alot of other sites are saying. supposedly the 1st incarnation of the 98** series will be just OC'd g92 cards w/ tri-sli support.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if they did that then pulled some similarBS as they did w/ the 8 series. like a g100 based 9800GTX called the 9800GTX 1gb or 9800Ultra. I'd venture to guess though that they'd bring the next big chip out w/ a 9900 nameplate. Kinda like how they did the 7 series...

If this is true (I hope not the case), what a waste to release another Oced version of G92 labeled with 9 in such short timeframe.

In my mind I think the g92 was ment for the 9 series all along but instead they decided to continually milk the 8 series...

I think these cards(if the article holds true) should be the 8900 series not the 9800... but that's just my opinion, I'm no marketer.

I wonder if the are getting itchy with ATI? Trying to put out something "new" to compete? When the rebadge bikes in the motorcycle industry, we call it BNG, Bold New Graphics, lol.
