See, here's the thing about COD4 though. Some parts of the campaign look absolutely phenomenal (the Middle East invasion levels in particular), but the multiplayer graphics just aren't that great IMHO.

You hit the nail on the coffin, I think they did that so the multiplayer experiance would be smooth however. I think crysis did the same thing with thier multiplayer, gears is one of the few "next gen" games where to me it looks like there is as much detail in the multiplayer levels as there is in the single player campain. I havent played every game out there so understand this is out of the ones I previously mentioned and only my opinion other people might see it differently.
