But i still think i would see a good enough performance increase with my pc if i was to stick the 9600 gt ko in here. Lets see... i would have twice as fast video memory speed then i have now and about 100 mhz faster core clock on the 9600 befor i even overclock it. right now i got my core @ 580 from 400... and mem @ 930 from 700 stock.
Dude, what you just said made absolutely no sense. You cannot compare the clock and memory speeds between your 7600 and a 9600. They're COMPLETELY different cores..so you cannot think that way. Secondly...you're on a Socket 754. Be very careful if you're unsure about this....MOST Socket 754 motherboards were AGP based, not PCIe based. If you're lucky enough to have a PCIe based board, shoot for something that's going to give you the SAME performance increase with less money. Go for an 8600GT(s). You will NOT see any performance increase past that graphics card. You can slap in the 9600GT...but it'd perform exactly the same as an 8600 because your processor would be holding it back so badly. You also need more than a 450w PSU for those bigger cards. The 8800 and 9600's require a minimum of around 500w with around 20-25a on the 12v rail. Your best bet would be to upgrade your board, CPU, RAM, and PSU. That would give you way more performance increase than a GPU upgrade would.
