28c - 30c idle?

Thread Starter
Was checking if this was normal...my Ambient is about 33-35c and my 8800GTX runs at around 58c idle

Proc is 28c - 30c idle and about 35-40 on Orthos load.

Thanks

If you're on air, then that is impossible. You can't have lower than ambient temps on air. I suggest using core temp to measure temps

I am at 25 C Idle and 45 C in Orthos after 3 minutes, how long are you running Orthos for?

EVEREST Ultimate reports my CPU temp is lower than the ambient by a couple degrees...

I ran Orthos for 18 hours

I've used Speedfan/MSI Utility/TAT/Coretemp

For some reason TAT and Coretemp double these temps so I don't know what to trust anymore.

then that program is reading your temps incorrectly. It's simple science....... You can't have lower than ambient temps on a cpu using air cooling.

Getting temperatures below ambient on air cooling is just plain impossible. Accept it.

Those programs are reading your IHS temp, which is not the one you should be looking at. Download CoreTemp and we'll talk.

Coretemp is the one to trust. And no you can't have lower idle than ambient temps.
