Hello, i have a networking question, is there any special configuration needed when you have a computer connected to an ethernet modem, then have another computer connected to the second ethernet plug on the computer that is connected to the modem? If so, what kind of confiuration is involved?

Thanks in advance for your help!

yes, you have to turn on sharing to the network adapter connected to the modem, you can do this by right clicking on the adapter and going to properties then to the sharing tab

Right, but a little too simplified.

To get this working this will be easiest.

1) on the PC connected directly to the modem, go to Control panel > Network Connection now right click on the connection that is hooked up to modem, go to sharing, and enable sharing.

2) Now click other connection (the one that will be connected to the other PC) Go ino the TCP\\IP properties and configure the connection for a static IP. Use 192.168.0.1 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0.

3) Go to the secondary PC, go back to network connection, and go into properties for the LAN connection on this PC. Setup this PC to use static IP 192.168.0.2 subnet 255.255.255.0 and GATEAY 192.168.0.1.

That should have you up and running
