Need help getting to 3ghz

Thread Starter
ok so i managed getting to 2.8ghz on stock vcore with 255 FSB and 11x multi. I now want to get to at least 3.0ghz...but the problem is i don't know what options to change in my Bios.

I tried changing the vocre to 4.25v but when i ran orthos it came up with errors and warnings.

Thanks

Changing the voltage to your CPU will allow your FSB to go higher, and stay stable.

But your voltage is definately off... nothing could have a 4.25v vcore heh, it would fry instantly.... Did you download CPU-Z?

Up your FSB to 280... and don't adjust anothing else. That should push you to 3Ghz.

Let us know...

should i leave the multi to 11x and vcore to stock (1.360v) because the last time i changed the fsb to 280 my system wouldn't boot. but then again i didn't know what multi i was on (if that even makes a difference?)

Try it, if it doesn't boot then you may have to loosen(for instance, if they are 5-5-5-15, up them to 6-6-6-15) your ram timings and lower your ram frequency. This won't hurt the ram.

Give it a shot and let us know.

what settings have you changed to get where you are now?

leave the CPU multi on Auto or its default multi...

you will need to change things like TRFC (105 or 127.5) TRC to 24-26 and Max Async Lat to 8 and then you may need to drop the ram on a divider...prolly the 667 divider...

those usually aloow me to get any CPU on any board over 3Gs without and issue other than vcore....you shouldnt need more than 1.425vcore to hit 3Gs

Sorry to be a pain in the ass but I'm pretty noob when it comes to RAM overclocking...I've read like a 10 explanations but cant understand em.

think u could explain how to do it or explain the process in a more simple way?

thanks

is that the black edition 5000+? if so than you don't necessarily need to change the fsb as much as just up the multiplier. but with my brisbane i needed some good volts to get to 3ghz i had to use 1.46+ to get stable.
