Asus SATA dvd-rom?

Thread Starter
I'm looking at this model of the ASUS dvd-rom drive on NewEgg, and if you have experience with it, then I'm wondering what you think of it.

The purpose for this thread is to help me make an informed decision on whether or not I should get this one, or another $20 or less dvd-rom. I want the very best value (the quality is my number one priority).

Also, the following might just be repeat information for some of you: I'm not able to buy anything until April. And "anything" means an entire computer system from NewEgg.

So, have at it. Tell me your thoughts on this thing. I'm also considering this Lite-On dvd-rom. I have to admit, it would be kind of cool to find a really good SATA 16x or 18x dvd-rom drive with a 52x cd-rom capability, instead of this 48x stuff, not that 52x is that much faster.

Bump for title change, for it was in all lowercase.

I bought this DVD Rom, but I haven't yet used it. It's actually just for my home file server that I'm building at the moment. Wish i could better inform you on it, but I will whenever I get it finished.

I assume it's fine. I mean, plays DVDS. Nothing more to it really. Not much they can get wrong there.

I got it and a samsung, they're both great and rock solid and quiet. I use both equally. I would definitely get it over a lite on any day...

how often do you even burn CDs anyway.....

Thank you, dr4gon!

Not very often. I's very annoying to do much of anything on my sig rig - my only rig, which isn't even worthy to be called a "rig"!

I got the more costlier one. It works great, though the thing was flimsy. The tray I mean. It does do what it does.
