well right now im using my zerotherm btf90 and im liking it (e6300 2.8ghz stock voltage 42 idle and 53 load) but a friend just upgraded his HSF and is willing to let me try his previous big typhoon vx. does anyone think its worth going in and switching? or would one think i wouldnt get better temps with it?

It depends on your setup.
If you have a side vent, the big typhoon may be better.
If you have a rear exhaust fan and no side vent stick with the butterfly.

Are you willing to break out Mr.Dremel?
Can you 'try' out the big typhoon before you decide? - I would try it out, the proof would be in the temps.
