[VR-ZONE] More 9800GTX Details - Page 8

i'd hope to see a thorough bench on the 2 x2's when nvidia's answer comes out. btw grim, is the new revision of ati going to be a x2 as well? if it is i don't see the 9800gtx holding as much ground as i would've thought if that's the case, but maybe the ultra will if it's g100 (too early to tell, but they'll definitely jack that price up sky high). i have no problem changing companies (i have an ati in my second rig), but it seems as nvidia is dicking around with the 9 series... it's time for ati to rock and roll

The true clock for the memory is 2200mhz because it is ddr (double data rate). The clock for the gtx is 1100mhz but effective it is 2200mhz. For your card your clock is 1940/2 or 970mhz.

We would have definitely known if it was going to suck if the memory only was 550mhz stock.

Good question, that i or nobody can answer.

Although imo 3x GTX's should be faster than 2x GX2's, depends on SLI scalability on these GPU's. In theory 2x GX2's should be faster but we have to wait for initial benchies. Whenever that's going to be.

The HD4870x2 is expected although not confirmed by ATI.

Actually I believe they confirmed it just recently. Should be one heck of a card if the HD4 series is as good as I hear. Then again, we'll have to wait and see. You just can't judge cards by paper/specs anymore. Only real world benchies and hands on reviews really tell the story.

You know, it's fairly likely that there will be a 9900GTX utilizing the GT200 core, as somebody mentioned in the other recent GX2 news story. It will probably come out in May-June to directly compete with the 4000-series. This "refresh" as it's been called is probably just for nVidia to achieve superiority (read:bragging rights over ATI for 2 more fps in Crysis) for the time being, until it is necessary to roll out the new core. Whether this is due to technological issues or marketing tactics I'm not sure, but we'll likely know on March 11th.

On a separate note, I saw somewhere online that the new quads will be coming out on March 10th. Should've bookmarked it. Once I find the source again, I'll post it. We're likely gonna have either a lot of new rigs, a lot of new forumgoers, or both in the next month!

Sli was a waste for me...

Really disappointing this is showing me nothing at all,512 mb of memoery with a 256-bit of memory badwitdh?,wow my gts g80 has more than that.
The 8800 gtx was a real beast when it came out it was new it had 768 mb of memory with a 384-bit memory interface witch was one of it´s best things. This one has nothing new,i´m sure that an overclocked gt would do equal than it,it sucks.
I wanted that card but now that i see specs i think that i should get a gt witch is much cheaper and it´s almost the same. And what about the 9800 gts?,it´s gonna be a real crap then just think about it.
If the gx2 cost the same than two 8800 gt´s or two gts 512 it´s really not worth it.
