Want to settle this once and for all

Thread Starter
OK, I am attempting to build a new computer and have become confused about how the FSB relates to CPU and memory FSB. I have searched online for a while and everybody says something different.

Here is what I was going to buy:
Gigabyte p35-ds3l (1066/1333 cpu, 1066 ram)
e6600 (1066 FSB)
Crucial Ballistix (2 x 1GB) DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel

I was assuming that if the FSB speeds matched between CPU and ram, it would operate better. However then I read that the bus speed is actually 266, meaning the ram would be operating at only 533 (2X266) anyway. Is this true?

Also if I overclocked the CPU to 1333, would then the ram only be operating at 667? So should I buy 667 ram if i plan to do this? If so, what is the point of buying 1066 ram at all?

My overall question is simply what is the best ram to buy under the two conditions (using said motherboard and cpu)
1. I dont overclock anything.
2. If I do overclock.

I dont want to overspend on seomthing that makes not difference.

As you raise the FSB the memory frequency increases, soo you must use divider to underclock the memory to where its stable, As for FSB it will go as long as your mobo likes it, X that with multiplayer and you have your speed, gl on your OCing journey,,,
