Glad to see things are working out a bit better for you now.

Never doubt the cpu first.

Mate, would you ever think of taking the mcp higher than 1.7?? Seems high, doesn't it?? And man, what time do you go to bed out in Arnold land??

I have raised the NBv to its limit on my mobo before..[ 2.1v w/ mod hehehe ] in an effort to hit over 500mhz stable..no dice though.

About 1.85v was really all i needed to maintain a 490mhz FSB with 2-3gb's of RAM...I use a 80mm fan on the NB though, so even at the high voltage, I was still only seeing temps around 45-50c under full load.

CL3P- I will sleep when Im dead..no work to do then.

Work must come before fun for me, so will try upping NB a bit later...its running stable at 3.93 now. I've got a strong 80 mm fan right in middle of side panel blowing in, and from what I see from NMonitor, temps in case are only 26..I guess the Vapo cuts down on heat dissipated from the cpu. You're a better man than I going without 8 zz of sleep though.

Not fun install though, I needed help with it. You guys still think playing with voltages will do anything or have I hit my ceiling even with this cooler??
45nm chips have a voltage limit, not temperature. If you go over 1.35V your CPU will die out in a short time (month or less). They are great OC'ers on Air because they dont produce lots of heat - many get 4.0 on mediocre air cooling

I suggest upping voltages globally to stabilize it, then start cutting back volts where its too hot (NB, CPU, VDimm and such)

Hope you hit 4.0
