First Overclock Ever, eVGA 780i, Q6600 - Page 2

Did you run System User Experience index a few times to get the graphical interface running in Vista yet? It helped increase my buddies 3D Mark '06 by around 600 points or so. His was Vista 32 bit...and I'm definitely not Vista intelligent by any means yet (still on XP)

Now before overclock my idle temp was 35c and it is now 44c, does this sound alright. how do i test my temp under load? and whats the safe temp i can push my CPU at considering i use my pc day to day
Although the score is good it seems a bit low with the quad @ 3.2 ghz.
I can only oc my q6600 too 2.66 ghz but i score a 13601 in 3dmark 06.

why dont you put your multi at 9 instead of 8. then you dont have to have your fsb up so high. also with intels you dont have to link and sinc your ram. unlink it, set your ram to stock settings, then o/c your cpu. by leaving your ram at stock settings while o/c'ing your cpu, you will make sure that your ram isnt interfering with the o/c. once you get a stable o/c with your cpu, then go and o/c the ram.

your fine right there, i wouldn't go any higher. your never going to stress your rig as hard as prime95 does, so dont worry. stay there, great job!

run prime95 for atleast 8 hours, i run mine for 24. then run a blend test for 8 hours or so, to make sure your o/c's are working good together. then you can run memtest on your memory. if you dont get any errors while testing your all good. if you run a cpu test on prime and memtest, it isn't absolutely necessary to run the blend test also, i just like to.

edit: are you stressing all 4 cores on prime? if so, i would say that your temps are fine for 24/7. 71c is your limit, and your only going up to 65c. like i said before, everyday use is never going to get your temps that high anyways!

The thing is that 6600 GO can go up to 70c. So you would be safe to have it at 65 just for Prime and a think is keep the eye in the temps and check what is the max u get.
