I know how you feel and i felt the same way but, how long is this computer going to last you, getting a quad core future proofs it... You should get the q6600 in my HONEST opinion there are open boxes for 213 or so, also if i cant convince you someone had a c2d up in for sale for 80 i think

I would go for the Q6600, you should be able to overclock it to 3.4 stable pretty easily, which may not result in the same performance as a nice dual core right now, but upcoming games will be optimized for quad core... It's a really a matter of: when do you think you'll buy your next build or upgrade your processor? If it's soon enough go for a nice dual core and upgrade when you need to, if it's not then grab the quad core... Regardless of which one you choose you'll probably be happy with the results...

I vote Q6600 Future proof FTW!

il probably vote for the Quad even though i went the dual core way but i have never regret it cause the only thing my dual core lets me down in is benchmarks xD and not getting to 4.0Ghz
