Overclocking G0 Q6600 - Page 2

EVGA A1 or TI are built for quads

run at 8x400 FSB, linked and synced
you can run unlinked but if you go 400 FSB you don't need to.

If you have one of the other 680i boards you might want to post back. The XFX is the same as the EVGA A1, the asus boards are more of a challenge.

set your vcore to 1.40 in the bios.

that will be more than enough for stability at 3.2.

Then you can start cranking it back to lower volts.

Your chip has a fairly high VID which means your vcore may have to be high as well for stability.

In the bios there is a Option "FSB - Memory Clock Mode" : Auto, Linked or Unlinked.

What are your recommendations? and what FSB QDR should I use?

...its the revision A1 series.

run 400 fsb (1600 QDR), run it linked and sync'd at an 8x multi for now. Once you are stable, you should be able to run 9x400 easily (with higher vcore)

make sure your ram voltage is correct (check your ram model on crucials site. should be 2.1 or 2.2 volts. the 680i boards always undervolt ram if left on auto)

You need too ajust v-core voltages to mabey around 1.32v or 1.3 ajust the Northbridge voltage to mabey around 1.39, and unlink ram from cpu.
Start slow

ok i have the same setup as you.(sig rig) i'm running my Q6600 @ 3.2 24/7 folding. i have my multi at 9, 356x9(3206) is my settings. my vcore is set at 1.26, my Vid is 1.2250 so you see i only had to bump up the volts a few notches to get this stable o/c. make sure you disable all of the energy saving items, i dont have the list of them in front of me, you can find them all over the forums. ram volts is 2.1, fsb is 1.4, the rest i cant remember off hand. i would run unlinked, set the ram to stock settings, o/c the cpu, then when you get the cpu stable, o/c the ram.
