nice work...i just purchased a 570 today and am already planning a big mod.. 4 extra 120's 3 extra 80's use the mesh on the backside for better airflow and a total blackout....so far your work is looking stellar....i haven't actually used my 570 yet does the HDD cage really restrict airflow that much?

This is a brilliant work log. I love seeing a well thought out plan like this come into action.

Thanks for the comments and good luck. Just take the front off and have a look at the lower fan. The fan will just clip out....have a look at how blocked up it is. With the fan running I put my hand behind the HDD cage and I felt nothing. I am hoping this sorts that out. The HDD's will still be in the way, but I am sure the air flow will be better. By how much will only be answered once I have the case is back together.

Still got a lot to do. I am hoping to have the painting complete today or tomorrow. Then I can start assembling. Even once the case is back together it is going to take a while. There are a few more small projects still left to do,

Fit 90 mm fan through the side panel and make gaurd.
Cable managment - this includes some covers
Fit additional front fans and make up gaurd
Lighting - LCD's and tubes

Thanks everone for the support and kind words

Zoom, sir I don't know how I've missed this log. Nice work and detailed pictures man. I always forget to take pictures during building, LOL.

Nice work on the HDD rack and mounts, but let me ask something. Why didn't you just turn the HDD bay 1/4 turn so that the HDD's point in toward the fan, that would open up airflow alot more than just cutting out some of the side. It appears it would easily pop rivet back onto the bottom of the CD rack. Just my thought

Anyway, very nice build, Im subscribed!

After that, you should supplement your current project with one of water cooling proportions, with the ability to use the fans on your hard drives, you should get a rad and a block and definitely get a good water cooling solution. Other than that, it was innovative and well detailed. Congratulations, you've won my vote.

Thanks a lot Repo_Man. It means a lot from you. I have watched your work and it rocks...I had almost the same plan originally...but if I turned the bay I would not be able to access the HDD's from the mobo side without having to remove the GFX card...It should not have been to much of a problem but I think this way won in the end 'cos it is so much fun modding...lol

Thanks for the kind words Zorpnic. I have been looking into the watercooling as you have sugested but unfortunatly down here in SA the parts are very expensive....so it will take some time before I travel down that road. I really want to try the water cooling. Maybe not on this case but I will give it a go some time.

Anyway sorry for no updates in a while. I have run out of the red paint and I had a close look at the parts...they still need a coat or two. The place I bought the paint from has also run out and the expect stock sometime this week.

Thanks once again for all the comments. I will update as soon as I can.

Oh ok, well that makes sense then. I was just wondering. It worked out great though, very nice work!

Thank you for the compliments, I really appreciate it man. Glad I can inspire others to tear up cases like I do,LOL.

Great work Zoomlolly! I bought the same case after reading your log and was a bit concerned about the hard drive cage & temps, but I replaced all the stock fans with Thermaltake Thunderblades and my hard drives never get above 28C with no mods yet. I do plain to cut out the mesh area though, just for better "flow through".
