Weird...

Hi all. Let me be the first to admit my ignorance in home computer / networking security. On Friday, I was trying to get my O/C above 2.7ghz without crazy voltage. Failing miserably yet again, I installed my printer's software and turned off the PC for the night. Yesterday, I got up in the morning and printed off a rebate form, quickly checked email and ocn and a few other sites then logged off. This morning, I turned on my PC and noticed that it had booted to the screen that you choose between different user accounts on the comp. Well, I never set up additional accounts. So, I bring up the user accounts control panel, and lo and behold, there's an additional account there. (this being apart from what I'd stuck on there as the name for the comp) The guest account was disabled, and the 'new' account was ASP.NET... (there may have been more to it, but I can't remember. It had the 3 dots at the end though).

So my question is...*** happened? Have I been compromised and need to do a bunch of craziness or ? Thanks so much for any and all assistance!

Hi.

Perhaps This will shed some light.

"The aspnet_wp or ASP.NET Machine Account is created when the Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1 is installed onto a Windows XP computer. The user is created to run the asp.net worker process used in Microsoft's Internet Information Services, which allows ASP.net to run on your local web server (This is pretty much its only use, it is not used to run normal .net managed executables). There is not a need to worry about this user's presence; it was not created in malicious way."
