Playstation 3 on Dell 24" Monitor? - Page 2

Thread Starter
I would have to disagree because it only has a VGA and a DVI connection. The new Dell 24" though has two DVI ports, one VGA, one HDMI, one Display Port, one Component, one Composite, and one S-Video port. They have the same aspect ratio although the Samsung has a 5ms refresh rate and the Dell has 6ms. Plus for a small fee I can get a 4 year complete coverage warranty for the Dell and through my experience Dell has better customer support then Samsung.

The 2407WFP/HC doesn't do 1080p over component. The new 2408WFP does, and has two DVI's and a HDMI, which will make your PS3 look wonderful.

Hey, if you've got the money, go with the Dell one. My reasoning with DVI/HDMI is that a digital connection is a digital connection, and you can always use a converter or switch if you need to work with multiple inputs. But like I said, the Samsung is a better buy, though not necessarily a better monitor.

Samsung monitors don't need customer support. Neither do Dells, to be fair.

I thought those weren't very widely available. I won't deny that Dells have great panels, though I'm not sure what difference the ports (especially the number of them) makes.

EDIT: Gateways are very nice as well. I didn't mean to start anything...you can't really go wrong with a Gateway, Dell, or Samsung. It's all about price and application.

Does the Samsung have eight inputs?

Does it have Picture in picture?

Does it have Picture by picture?

Does it have 4 USB ports and a card reader?

Does it have a stand worth $150 by itself?

The 2408WFP does.

Sorry... I'm immature.

I would agree the 2408WFP is an awesome monitor but you have to have the gwap to pay for it.

Thats the only problem I have with it.. $700!?

About two weeks ago there was a deal for a E4500/8300GS/1GB/160gb HDD from Dell with the 2407WFP-HC (clearing stock for the 2408? yeah) for $730 shipped.

Well I already have two 20" dells running with my 8800GTS and I love them. I just feel its time for an upgrade so I can consolidate all of my major electronics onto my desk.

So I know the 24" models will be worth every penny especially since they have a much better refresh rate then the 20" monitors I have now and I will get all of the extra connections.

Just picked up an Acer X243w from office depot for $280 today for my PS3 and comp, it looks sweet. Just a lack of inputs kinda sux, but can't beat the price for a good 24"
