2160 overclocking help and cpu coolers reviewed

2.8ghz so far soon to be 3ghz when i get ultra120.

Cpu Cooling;
Thermalright ultra 120 xtreme
Thermalright is no stranger to the high end heatsink market. It is one of the best coolers i personally think to date. Their designs have performed near the top of the pack for years, and the Ultra-120 promises to be no exception. http://www.silentpcreview.com/files/...0/contents.jpg
Also its packaging is good because it is not over the top.http://www.silentpcreview.com/files/...20/packing.jpg
http://www.silentpcreview.com/files/...ra-120/box.jpg
Despite its size, motherboard compatibility should be fairly good, as the fins are high enough above the base to avoid most of the components on the motherboard. Besides, the modern sockets that the Ultra-120 is compatible with allow for plenty of room around the CPU. Compatibility issues are more likely to arise with motherboard / case combinations where the heatsink hangs over one edge of the motherboard. At the time of writing, Thermalright did not list any incompatible motherboards on their web site.
http://www.silentpcreview.com/files/.../installed.jpg
The results i will show soon

Goodluck, i have the same chip with a Tuniq Tower, and i am not thermal limited. I've got it at 3.6 now on 1.55v and fiddeliing around with it seeing if i can lower it. So the problem will be the vcore sooner then your temps, especially with a TRUE

BTW what fans you're gonna attach?

wowowowow slow down there! 1.575 for 2.8GHZ? most people can pull this of with stock volts. with 1.575 i can get to 3.7ghz! Be sure your vcore isn't on auto. Set it at 1.45 and see how far you can come, probably around 3.2-3.4 1.575 will drasticly shorten your cpu lifetime

I wil try the vcore that low but i dont think it will work because for some reason it needs so
much volts when playing games other wise it restarts. could this be because of my standard cooling? as for the fans i am not sure yet. i will be running them at close to full speed so i am not worried about slience. i have completed OCCT and it was completely stable but the temp got up to 63C and stayed there all the time!! is that right. i will be using it for gaming so it needs to be completely stable.

True, built one that did 2.8 on just enough vcore above stock to make up for the v droop on a ds3l. Cool running also with just a ac7.

A FSB wall is a FSB wall.

At 421MHz FSB my system will not boot, no matter multiplier, the cooling, or the voltage. At 420 I can get it 100% stable near stock volts if I drop down to 6x multiplier.

Still, I've never seen an E21xx with an FSB wall of only ~310.

But yeah, 1.575v is way too much.
