Considering a new X1900XT cooler...

My ICEQ 3 cooler has done me proud. It's been reasonably quiet, fairly cool, and just generally done a good job. However, it has developed a somewhat unhealthy sound recently. I thought the fan might be dirty, but dusting it out didn't alleviate the problem. It's only a very light ticking sound that goes away when I press lightly on the fan, but it's an annoying noise nonetheless. So I might have to retire the ICEQ 3 cooler soon. Here's what I'm looking for in a cooler:

1: Reasonably small - I do not have the clearance above or below the card for a large cooler like the HR-03.

2: I prefer using my own fans. I've just had bad luck with proprietary fans over the years, be it because they fail and I have to replace the whole cooler or it just turns out the fan has an annoying sound profile. At this point I much prefer solutions where I can add/remove my own fan with a minimum of fuss.

3: Obviously the cooler has to be compatible with an X1900XT.

With all that in mind, the only coolers I've found that I really find appropriate are the Thermalright V2 and possibly the AC Accelero S1 Rev. 2 (butt-ugly though). I'd appreciate if anyone had a few more options for me to check out though.

AC Accelero X2 is what you want, its cheap, light, dead silent on 100% fan speed and cools great. At 100% it is INAUDIABLE unless you put your ear half an inch from the fan itself. I run mine at 100% all the time through bios mod with a slight vGPU increase over stock (1.475v vs 1.425v stock) and I get 76c full load, amazing if you ask me.

The X2 has a proprietary fan that cannot be easily changed. I read up on it and it doesn't seem like a bad cooler, but I'd prefer to be able to use one I choose if at all possible.
