It is OK. Egg usually has good price for Crucial Ballistix. You may wait few days to see if you can find good price. Yesterday was $40 after MIR.

Yup - Crucial Ballistix is the way to go. And linskingdom, thanks for all your help and excellent threads. My E2180 is a screamer

2.Do not get 3GB ram just get 2 GB cause 3Gb of RAM cannot run in dual channel which will lower your performance. Most people do not ever use up thier 2GB unless in some crazy RAM intensive games.
There are many people running 3 gigs in dual channel so the #2 above is totally incorrect. IMO tho you might as get 4 gigs with the prices of ddr2 being so low right now. 32bit OS's will only see 3-3.5gigs but if ever switching to a 64bit OS it will see all 4gigs. Even with a 32bit OS I see a noticable difference in load times, initial smoothness of games after loading with greater than 2 gigs of ram.

Q6600's with the right mobo's and cooling have been proven to be excellent OCers, stable and durable.

I say go with a Q6600 and since I don't like any of the Nvidia boards I have to say get the Gigabyte P35 DS3L for your budget.

Just be aware that with the 650i chipset, you will most likely get a limmited 2.8GHz OC on the Q6600. You will have better luck with an updated version of the chipset found in the form of the 750i.
