Its been a while, but just to close the loop, Crucial sent me a THIRD batch of RAM and I insisted they send me the DOUBLE SIDED chips and they worked like a charm. What a PITA.

I've been having similar problems with my system. Swapped out my Ballistix and the problems went away. I've been doing a lot of searching on the topic and it sounds like the new stuff from Crucial just isn't what it used to be. Quite a few people have been reporting problems and/or failures.
