need some help troubleshooting a major issue

My computer is shutting down randomly more and more frequently. I first notice it while booted into ubuntu. I switched over to windows but I am having just as me problems here. I have my cpu and everything set back to stock speeds and my ram is running at 1.8v at 444-12. I have ran memtest, I am going to run it one more time to make sure no new problems have cropped up. If I even start to open a game my system shuts down after about 30 seconds of opening it. I have run orthos and it last for about 20 seconds and then it starts beeping at me and I get this error

Code:
2:FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4
2:Hardware failure detected, consult stress.txt file.
2:Torture Test ran 0 minutes 4 seconds - 1 errors, 0 warnings.
2:Execution halted.
I has shut down every night for the past few days for unknown reasons. The computer is just idling at night. with very few programs running.
Can some one tell me what I should try next?

What are your temps and voltage in your CPU? Have you tried flushing the BIOS (jumper style)?

The rated voltage for ballistix at 4-4-4-12 is 2.2vdimm. There in lies your problem. Either raise vdimm or loosen your timings to 5-5-5-15.

I second that. SPD for Ballistix is either 1.85v 5-5-5-18 800MHz or 2.2v 4-4-4-12 800MHz

ok it turns out I am having ram problems. I ran memtest and the whole screen turned red. I started cranking up the voltage and I am down to 1 error on memtest. could I have done any permament damage by running the voltage lower? I was told by some members on here that the lower the voltage (as long as it is over 1.8) would just make the ram last longer and that 2.2 was high even though it is speced that high. I was running it at lower volts bc my last set fried at 2.2 volts and I had to rma it.
