Speakers quit last night

My house has been giving me fits with power issues. Last night I lost power and my speakers died. I don't recall the exact model but it was a nice 2.1 from Cambridge Soundworks. I checked the fuse and it was fine, all of the damage that I have been getting is from brownout behaviour which renders surge protection equipment useless. The "good" stuff is on line conditioners, but I can't load up everything on those. Long story short I am needing a new set of speakers. I have an open budget, but I don't need the absolute best stuff. I just want a nice range of highs and lows for a decent price. I would like to keep with a 2.1 setup but I would entertain additional configurations. I just don't feel like going through all the trouble of mounting a 5.1 setup.

Agreed. I'm getting the Logitech Z-2300 for a computer build for a friend. There was one other 2.1 speakers that was suppose to be really good but forgot what they are. Maybe kilpch pro media? I remember soloz was selling some of whatever it was.

BFRD, do you prefer to have some nice low to medium volume music or do you really rock out?

I recommend the

/ for the "party" volumes (Logitech for movies or bassier music, Klipsch for most everything else).

If you'd like to take a step up in quality in a tradeoff for raw SPLs, look at the Swans M10 or the Audioengine A2.

I will certainly take those under consideration. The only thing I didn't like about the Swans M10 was that the larger center speaker would have to be "out" somewhere. I did some looking and like the Swans M200 MKII. They aren't cheap, but I suspect the sound quality will make up for not having a seperate sub. I am well past needing my music loud to enjoy it. As long as it sounds like it is supposed to sound I am happy. I would probably be mostly happy with some cheapos, but those M200s just look amazing as well.

I completely wimped out on getting great speakers and just dealt with normal consumer stuff. I ended up picking up some CL T40's. I am sure they won't sound as nice (or look as nice) as the Swans, but they will do fine for little ole me.
