I would too, because although HD DVD is in its death throes, why not buy up all the about-to-be-drastically-reduced HD movies? Video stores, retailers, websites will be selling them cheap and technically HD movies haven't stopped production yet.

I was thinking about Microsoft and HD-Dvd and wondering why they just did not include the HD-Dvd player on the retail version of the XBox 360. Seems like the knew the format was destined to fail. Microsoft did not show the faith in HD-Dvd like Sony did to Blueray. Sony deserved to win. They had a better product.

Good idea, you can be like someone who bought a bunch of cheap BETA stuff, when VHS won that battle. Then later, when your player breaks, and there are no other players to buy or parts to fix yours, you can feel good about throwing that money into a deep dark hole . Think about it guys, it's just wasted money, nothing smart about buying HD-DVD anything now.

Ebay is rife with betamax players. In fact, I could go get one right now from my local thrift shop.

HD DVD made enough of a standing that players will always be able to be had. The Xbox player might not not be as readily available 10 years from now, but stand alone players will.

It's the same with all obsolete technology. There are still 8 Track players, record players and cassette tape players.

good point, even though its a good deal now and hd-dvds will be cheap just think about the future there will be no movies coming out in hd-dvd and youll be forced to buy blue-ray anyways

im still stuck on a regular old dvd player from the year 2002 OMG! (2002?!?!?)

300,000 HD DVD addons were sold in the US....out of the 600,000 total HD DVD players.
