dont blu rays use a different laser? aka white its called blu ray

Blu-ray has 8MBPS uncompressed audio. DVD still has 750KBPS. Thats over 8x more bitrate. I've compared upconverted DVDS and blu-rays on my HT setup and it is very noticable which one is the upconverted one both in audio and video. That's one thing I dig about the PS3 blu ray playback. It actually shows the rate at which the audio streams. And I agree, uncompressed audio is noticeably better.

FLAC is only about 900kbps more or less and it is enough... 8mbps just seems ridiculous.
