Alright my dad is pretty much a pc Enthusiast like me but not as much as me.
He works for the government as a marine biologist, and since he works for the government he is Allowed too spend up too around $15,000 on a new pc or stuff that is work related.
So he decided too upgrade his old P4, and get this line up worth a total of $9410.0

Dell percision Workstation T7400 - 64bit

Processors= DUAL 2x Quad core intel Xeon x5482 (3.2ghz,2x6m L2, 1600)

Operating systemm= Vista Ultimate 64bit with media.

Memory= 16gb ddr2 SDRAM FBD Mem, 800 mhz, ecc ( 4Dimms )

Monitor= 3 Dell 24 inch ultra flat 1080p widescreen.

Graphics card: 512 mb PCIe x16 nVidia quadro FX3700.

Hdd= 4x 1TB Hdd Sata.

Speakers= Logitech z-4 Speaker system 5.1 surround sound.

Sound card= Sound Blaster X-Fi xtreme music.

... keyboard... mouse... ex......

Im not shure what mobo there using because hes getting it from dell.
Also i wish he could have somehow gotten a different video card:/
He plays loads of games and is exited that now he will have a decent pc too play games on while on break.

Give your input, please dont tell me what i should change on the setup because its irreversible.
Sorry if this post isnt in the right section.
Also funny thing is the tech guys at his work dont give a crap what they buy,
Some guys have a 10 monitor setup in there offices.
I wonder if this thing will bench

What exactly does he do? I don't see him using any more than 4 cores; that is more of a gaming server setup.

I dont think all cores will be used, he Has his pc running millions of caculations a day. He works mainly with sardine Assessments and half the other stuff i cant even explain, anyways those cores will really help him out even though not all of them will be used. Also he doesn't set up gaming servers, he just got the 8 cores because well " When in Rome "
