DFI rma process disappointing..

Thread Starter
I had to rma my 790FX-m2r board, I got it back today, they had it in their posession for 12 days. They never sent me an email saying it was coming, no tracking, nothing. Also I know this isn't really part of it, but my friend has rma'ed his asus's, evga's, and bfg boards, and they just ship him a new one with all the extras. They also have a 2-3 day max turnaround. I just got my board back in a crappy old nf2 box, in fact its not even in a static bag, just a plastic sleeve.

I guess at least I have it back...this is my first dfi experience and its not going well.

Also they sent an empty box as well that has an anti static bag in it?? Has anyone else had to deal with dfi's rma service?

No problems with DFIs RMA service, but so far, two boards ordered and each one was missing a part (Driver CD in one, Raid floppy in the other). OTOH, both boards rock my socks off.

Well it had better be amazing, I got to fire it up then when I did their bios update the board wouldn't post anymore. For the price it should be amazing.

All companies regardless of name send out a fixed board when in RMA...

I have RMA boards from ASUS, ABIT, BFG, MSI, DFI and others and everytime it was a reconditioned board....

Some look new but maybe it had a hosed bios and needed a new chip/flash....

I will agree DFI used to be real good at RMA but as of the NF4 days they started really slacking....

DFI is one of the most over rated over priced boards on the market....they arent any faster than any other board but do clock a tad bit higher...but bench the same hardware with just a different board by say Asus and see what the results are...DFIs need to be clocked higher to get the same performance...they woo you by clock speed numbers...

I had almost the same problem when I RMA'd my Asus board. I was with out my computer for over a month. I finally called them, an they said it had 3 more days left IN THEIR SHIPPING DEPT!!!! ***? So i finally get it back after another week of shipping and guess what? one of the plastic pins that hold on the NB/HS were broken. And to top it off, the board would not post again! So I sent it back, but this time it was a cross ship, i get pre-paid labe, send it , notify them, and they ship me a new one. But, due to their incompetency, they failed to send me a new tracking number. So I called, and it shipped the night that i called them and was sitting at my local Fedex, (for the whole freaking day. Turns out, fedex doesn't deliver on mondays, unless you payed for monday shipping) So, after i finally got my board back, I was mad, but just relieved to have my computer up and running

Best companies for RMAs are Abit and BFG....

I recieved a Abit-AV8 as a trade once and it died during testing....they RMAd it no questions...

I bought a used BFG NF4 board and it wasnt right from the get go...the original owner didnt want to deal with it....I called BFG and they issued a RMA and Paid shipping both ways...I had another board the next day...awesome service...

I decided I was done with DFI when I learned they do not send out a replacement board after 90 days. Consider this: if you have an intermittment issue do you really want to get the same board back? No you want a replacement!

And I disagree that Asus sends back reconditioned boards. From what I have read and seen they send out a new board.

I have gotten recon'd and the same exact fixed board many times from Asus...I guess it depends on the issue...

But I refuse to buy Asus because they service and support is so darn slow...
