New computer

Since all you folks put my computer knowledge to shame, let me know what you think of this build:
CPU: E8400
MB: ABIT IP35-E
RAM: 2gb of Crucial Balistix DDR2 800 with 4-4-4-12 timing
GFX: EVGA GeForce 8800GTS (G92) 512MB

Im still not sure if that mobo will work with the E8400 without flashing the bios.
Thanks ahead of time

looks alright to me, should work just fine but like you I'm unsure if you'll have to flash the bios or not.

What PSU do you plan to use?

Its some Antec 650w thing. I really need to get a modular PSU, but its not really all that important at the moment. I just need to get a good rig up and running asap.

That motherboard supports 45nm but not offically yet. Apparently there is some misreadings with the thermal sensors. It will work, but its not offically supported by Abit yet.

With that CPU get the IP35 Pro. The extra overclocking features are well worth the money.

Does that board support the processor? Also, Im not really up on all the OC lingo. Basically I get that you take the multiplier with your fsb to get your cpu speed... I dont really understand the extra features.
Another question... Would my Zerotherm Nirvana CPU fan be able to clear the heatsinks around the socket?

Also... Why do people still recomend DDR2 800 instead of the 1066?

Great combo just make sure the PSU is good enough.

I have that RAM and it hits 915mhz easy at 5-5-5-15 with 2.2v

That CPU is a great overclocker but you might have to flash it like you said.

Good luck!

That processor is supported, but it is not official yet. Maybe there is some tweaks that need to be done but it is compatible.

Yes your Zerotherm Nirvana CPU will fit

DDR2-1066 does not exist. DDR2-800 is marketed at 1066 speeds because it is capable of reaching it. Why pay the extra for a guarantee that you already have?

Ah ok... So what are the extra OC features of the pro vs the IP35-E? Basically I want to know what makes the extra $80 worth it.
