[Ars] Why Intel bought Project Offset and the Offset Engine - Page 2

I can only see epic amounts of win coming from this.
Think about it; a engine that is designed and optimised
by a hardware designer/manufacturer
to use as much of the power of your hardware as possible.
Cuppled with 1 or maybe 2 Intel GPUs
and a next gen quad core.

yum

Heres hoping =D

lmao you guys need to read more, and read more thoroughly.... they said that intel will not be releasing the game, and they they are not joining the game designing industry, all they are doing is using the game engine to test parallelism on their CPUs so they can make them run better in games...

Or, to put it more simply: They don't care about games, they care about how good their processors run games.

That does not mean that the studio will not release the game. Also this could mean that if Intel can test in house against a real world engine that they might be able to dramaticly improve the way CPU uses and processes the code. THis could be a huge step in how well PC's run games. Imagine a game like Crysis that runs as well as say UT2k4 on a modern day gaming PC. Improve the way the CPU handles the load and get better fram rates, more life like AI and other improvments.

nVidia tactics : Optimize all the games for your engine so the competition has to make their GPU greatly more powerful just to be on par. The tactics are quite good too...
