Flat black paint

Thread Starter
I painted the outside of my Antec 900 with flat black spray paint. Problem is, it gets scuffed a lot and is hard to keep clean. Normally, I would just put clear coat on it, but that would kind of defeat the purpose of flat paint. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm not sure if matte is the same as flat, but i know people use matte black to get the flat black look. i don't know if that is more suited for your purposes.

You could also try "semi-gloss". That's my go-to. It gives a finish very similar to the factory black of many steel cases. (or non-brushed aluminum)

Here's a shot of a KL02 I shot with rustoleum, to give you an idea of the look:

(disregard the HD cage, I painted that a metallic to match a PSU)

What about that (I think it's called this) powder paint. You spray it on then bake it or something like that? That stuff is spposed to handle a beating.

Powder Coating- it's really durable, but pretty expensive.

There's definitely clear coat that isn't glossy. Even the clear coat I chose didn't come out glossy. I ended up with a flat finish, which looked just as good.

I'm trying for contrast with my case, the outside is flat black and the inside is glossy silver. The angles on the A900 kind of remind me of a F-117 stealth fighter, and I'm thinking of painting a silhouette on the case window. That, and I have two 16 blade Aerocool Turbines that make the case look like it has jet engines.

Lol thats why you don't paint the outside of the case. It comes stock with a flat black finish. The only reason I could see for painting the outside were if you were painting it another color.

It wasn't flat black to begin with, it was a semi-gloss plasticy looking finish.
