Thread Starter
Hey guys, I am shortly going to be needing a new computer.

I need a good amount of storage, and it needs to be future proof.

I have a budget of 1000.00 for everything except mouse and keyboard.

Can someone come up with something?

I would like a 8800GS or GT right now, dont need alot of power for games.

Dual Core? Quad core?

I'd just stick with something low cost since you don't need much.

A P35 or 680i board, X38 if you're feeling rich, e6600, 6700 or 6800, 2 gigs of whatever you can afford, Gskill or Mushkin maybe, a Seagate 320 gig 7200.11, some case that you like, a TRUE for your CPU, EVGA 8800 GT used from here, and use the rest for a decent monitor.

It's really up to what you're willing to pay for, if you're willing to cut at places to get a cheaper rig, and what you put your priorities on, which is why I kinda hate those build me a computer type things.

There are many options but I think you may keep it for awhile. So,

CPU:Q6600 $246
Board: Gigabyte P35-DS3L $90
RAM: Crucial Ballistix DDR2-800 2GB $35
HD:WD 320GB AAKS $75
GPU: XFX 8800GS $150
PSU:OCZ 500w $50
case: CM Centurion 5 $50
Monitor:Acer 19" LCD 5ms $180
DVD: Lite-On DVD SATA $18

Total $894 after MIR. The remaining $106 should be able to get a copy of Vista cd.

If you need more storage go dual core or if you want a bigger screen. I am pretty sure you could get a used e6600 for pretty cheap.
