Guys... he already bought the 3870 lol.

And a good choice if you ask me. The cards appear to be neck and neck so here's what it'd come down to for me: support AMD/ATI!

Gotta keep Intel and nVidia's competition alive, without AMD/ATI, Intel and nVidia will charge us insane amounts of money. Whenever the underdog offers a quality product that's neck and neck with the equally priced topdog's product, I like to go underdog

NCIX has the Galaxy KFA2 9600GT OC on sale for $189.99 plus a $30 mail-in rebate. Link here. But they also have the Galaxy KFA2 8800GT on sale for $229.99 with a $40 mail-in rebate! Link here.

I'm looking to upgrade from my 7800GT and want to play games at my max res, 1680x1050. I'm trying the new Lost: Via Domus game by Ubisoft at that res, but at low detail level I'm getting between 20-30fps. Could someone please give me some advice on which one to get? I know almost everyone here will say go for the 8800GT but for $30 less my wallet really is leaning towards the 9600GT

I've got the galaxy kfa2 and its pretty nice. Very silent cooler with quite a heatpipe on it. Also is uses a non-reference pcb, so its smaller and fits well in the case and allows better airflow. Also remember the galaxy 8800gt comes with a jumper to easily increase the core voltage from 1.1 to 1.2 or even 1.3 which allows nice overclocks. Also that card uses samsung memory thats clocks higher than the standard qmonda chips that all the other 8800gt's use. Its a great buy if you want to tinker with it and I would recommend it over the other choices especialy for the price.

One warning, I'm currently trying to get my rebate from worldrebates (20$) and they are saying I didn't send in the required docs even though I did :| (funny thing is they scanned the docs I sent in, then sent me the pdf of the scan, showing all the required info lol). I don't know if its the same rebate company this time but the ones I'm dealing with are idiots.
