Ram and OS question

Thread Starter
Alright I already read the thread about the 32 bit os only using 4 GB of ram. But I still have questions.

1. does it actually take both video cards into account?
2. I already ordered the 64 bit version of Vista home premium, can I upgrade from the 32 bit or does it have to be clean install?
3. I ordered a 4GB kit of G skill and my system only registers 2.3 gb why is that? when it should be 2.6 GB?

I seriously fell like a total noob asking these questions. But i do not understand this at all.

The ram available will probably vary, but ofcourse the ram of the two cards will be subtracted from the 4gb and maybe a few more while running 32bit. You should format and then install the new operating system to ensure stable operation, you shouldnt upgrade even if it was available. Clean install is the best solution.

You'll have to do a full reinstall, no upgrade.

ditto. You will have to do a full install. The 64 bit OS is a different animal from the 32 bit.
