[PS.blog] DualShock3 comes in april 2008 - Page 2

erm lets see. There's the "Xbox 360 Arcade", the "Xbox 360 standard 20GB", and the "Xbox 360 Elite". The "Xbox 360 Core" which they then turned into the "360 Arcade" to make out it was new and then discontinued that altogether. Now there's rumours of a "360 Ultimate".

Both sony and microsoft are guilty. But at the end of the day they're listening to what people want and dont want. Sony listened to people saying they were willing to buy a ps3 with no backwards compatibility if it was cheaper so they released the 40GB. Then people still wanted the backwards compatibility so they're re-introducing the 80gb after discontinuing the 60gb because the 2 are mostly the same anyway. Microsoft did the same with the core edition, but people wanted somethign that had features to equal the PS3 so they released the 360 Elite.

And what you're saying about the rumble is all very well but at launch the whole idea was 'next-gen' and only after the sixaxis was released did they learn that people still wanted rumble. Its all about user-feedback. It happens all the time.

Depends on how they do it. And they don't have to turn them both on at once.

the rumble thing didn't have anything to do with sixaxis that was just a cover up for the Immersions law suite... They sued sony and were asking for part of ps2 sales, in return sony didn't include their technology in ps3 and instead made their own tech. (if memory serves me right. maybe they fixed issue with immersion.) Sony is trying to make money and the fact that immersion sued that at the time of ps3 release is realy a cheap shot, don't take this out on sony they are trying to make money not give away blu ray players...

IMO sony has done everything right, while microsoft started off with a cheap product to undercut the competition then made a new SKU that was better (hdmi 120gb)... is realy kind of cheap.. But removing backwards compatibility in a new sku shouldn't bother anyone.

well what if they discover a flaw. what then?? companies think they have a great product but really it's mediocre but sells really well, like windows XP and vista and how there is 1000's of hotfixes for both O/S's. the 360 wasn't greatly made but MS sold over 100 million and had to secretly update their mobos, and add hdmi to all the models so if someone had an old model that means profit. profit is what runs the companies to pay the workers to buy more things to run the economy in a cycle.
