9600gt Shutting off during gaming

Thread Starter
Just got my EVGA 9600gt SSC the other day. Installed after uninstalling the old card and rebooting. Took the drivers from EVGA's website. Then I went into CS of course and started playing. After about 5-10 minutes while gaming the video card seems to just go out. Screen goes blank and that's all. Have to restart to get it back on.

I'm pretty sure that the 18a 12v rail should be fine and Nvidia recommends this one for SLI on the 8800gts. So either it's the psu or something up with the first batch of video cards. Didn't do much else it was late so I'm going to mess around with it after work.

It was running fine otherwise and I did a run with 3dmark06 Pro. Scored a very nice 11434. Kept messing around with it and did a little overclocking to bring it up to 780/980, that's up from 740/957Scored 11848 after that. This thing runs extemely cool, had it ideling at 35c and with fan at 100% it is at 30c. Under load may go up to 40c so I'm very impressed.
Specs:
Gigabyte P35-DS3L rev 2.0
2gb Crucial 6400 Ballistix
E8400
CORSAIR CMPSU-620HX PSU

Thanks all.

might be unstable OC on the card i'd back it off a little and test it doing the same thing you were doing. It will answer the question.

Is e8400 at stock? If it is, then eliminate the cpu factor. What’s the PCIE and GMCH voltage in your BIOS. Add +0.1 to them see how it goes.

Yes luckily ntune take it back to stock setting once the computer shuts down. I tried multiple times with the stock settings and it seems to go fine and then just blank screen and nothing else. So it happens at stock settings also I'd be pretty upset if this ruined the card by some simple overclocking. I'll try again later tonight. Otherwise I will take advantage of the EAR program and get a new card by Saturday.

the cpu settings are at stock i'll have to check the voltage but I do not believe thats the problem. but again i don't know everyting. first computer build figured best to leave the cpu settings the same except for ce1 and the other one. thanks

ive found ntune to be VEERY inaccurate

what you coulddo is download, GPUZ, set your overclock in ntune, and open gpuz and see what its actualy set at

the thing is rivertuner does not support these cards yet, I installed it last night and it didn't show much of the information. I will try that again. At this point I do not care about the overclocking I just want it to run stock safely. I'll see what hapens. I gotta stop posting while i'm at work. thanks
