Ah cool, I can handle waiting a month if it'll save me a few bob

i dont think the step-up wait will be as long as the 8800GT because of the price. i was 42 in line and took about a week to get up to send my card in. the price is big, and many will not be willing to pay that much for the GX2. many are talking crap on it, and praising the GT when it came out. im about to get a GTX, so my step-up will be fresh dont worry about the wait, dont think it will take long after they release the card.

Of course, alot of distributors may have them but don't have the green light to sell them yet.

$599. That's what I heard from v-zone. I think the price may be higher when it is out.

What I'm wondering is why anyone would want to buy or step up to a 9800 series card anyway given that there doesn't appear to be any significant technological, process, or clock advantage over the 8800GT/GTS. It's the same GPU core, G92; at best the 9800GTX is to the 8800GTS as the GTS is to the GT. The GX2 is probably going to be every bit as good as dual 8800 SLI, once drivers mature, but it's going to be more expensive. Still at least then you can get out of an NForce chipset.

Yeah, I've got a P35 mobo and am thinking about getting a 22" monitor so pretty soon I'll desperately need the extra GPU ram if I want to play games maxed out on high res's in the future. As I'm already in the evga step up program this card seems like the most logical option.

That's a point... Would this card run on a P35 mobo?
