Console emulators?

What do I need to know about installing and configuring console emulators? I'm particularly interested in N64, as I want to play the Zelda games again. Thanks for your help.

1) you download the emulator and install it.
2) to legally use an emulator you must own the console itself. The reason for this is that the emulator will need a BIOS from the console to run. The only way to legally obtain a BIOS is to extract it (using software) from your own consolve.
3) use the forums for the emulator you've chosen to configure the emulator properly.
4) you will need the original game discs to play the games, as downloading ROMs is illegal.

I've successfully gotten SNES and PS1 emu's to work, the SNES working flawlessly, the PS1 being rather hatefull and time confusing to configure properly. Just the forums for the emu, they're your best resource.

Well, that clears things up, I didn't know I had to own the system. Guess I'll move along; thanks for saving me time and frustration.
