i have been moving all my ISP email account stuff over to my gmail account. leaving me in partial thinking "well i use their email now wut?" it has taken months to double double double check to make sure everything is off. and im fairly certain it is..

when i leave they will be losing 120$ a month from losing me. i encourage everyone else to do the same

This is why I recommend to my friends that they NEVER use the e-mail account that is tied to their ISP... as e-mail is just a tool to keep you tied to their service.

So many of my friends are still stuck on AOL just because they've had their e-mail go there for the past decade. Personally, Hotmail and G-mail do it for me so that I have to freedom to choose my ISP (and not let them dictate to me) without having "e-mail regrets".

I agree!! I keep a Yahoo, Hotmail, and a Gmail account open at all times, in addition to my ISP's account. I may be switching to AT&T DSL service in the near future. Heck, if Comcast keeps throttling me to 5 KB/s, dial-up doesn't look that bad

I could get AT&T Elite DSL for $35/mo ($5 less/mo than what I'm paying, still 6 Mb/s download speed). I just hate to give up my Linksys Wireless Gateway cable modem/WiFi router

The AT&T Uverse modem is still wireless.. plus they give you an 8 port switch for free (at least they gave me one) for all my wired computers.

cable modem has been unhooked for like a week now. sunday direct tv comes to install their tv for us. (they dont want the boxes removed until they are done O_o)

but thankfully my new billing period dont start for like 3 days after the install

but yep.. comcast lost a customer. i was highly upset at their network management "practices" but this FCC hearing is going to far... may comcast burn in hell

Well all I know is my most recent tests are showing 34Mbps down and 1.7Mbps up. Sustained speeds for downloads lately have been in the 16-20Mbps range for most stuff (not just torrents)

As for Direct TV I hope you don't watch HD, they got the crap sued out of them a while back when a friend of mine who was an TV engineer analyzed there HD signals and found they were compressing 1080i down to around 1400x850 or so and dramatically rateshapping there feed's, He ended up starting a class action lawsuit against them over it. Satellite just doesn't have the capacity to keep up with Cable.
