Tuniq Tower 120 - do I have to do lapping?

Ok, I just learned about lapping and also read that someone found the base of this cooler is not flat hence he needed to do this "lapping". Is this necessary for everyone? I can't believe they ship a product that cannot be used without further modification which doesn't sound easy either.

Otherwise it looks pretty promising.

on the tuniq it won't really make a big differnece IMO, if you're going to lap the heatsink you pretty much have to lap your cpu as well or else the contact still won't be very good... it's upto you, if you want to void your cpu's warrenty for 3 degrees celcius then go ahead. The only cooler (that i know of) where lapping is actually worth it is my cooler, the base on it is terrible! The difference between my 4 cores is about 15 c!

Most bases aren't completely flat. Lapping will make it perfect and get to the copper, which will help temps a little. It's absolutely not necessary.

the tuniq tower is already a great cooler without lapping...you don't have to do it if you think it's too much to handle.
